Benito Mussolini was an Italian Fascist in the early 1920s who lead the National Fascist Party in Italy. Before Mussolini the typical idea of Italian Fascism derived from the idea of Marxism. Karl Marx's solution was "a world-wide proletariate revolution in which workers would rise up, break free of their fetters and seize and then control the means of production." Mussolini disagreed with this scenario, and instead said that it would be a fantasy to believe that the proletariat would rise up on their own. Alternately, Mussolini believed that in order for a Fascist country to successfully exist, it would have to do three things.
The first was to remove class antagonism through corporatism and nationalism, which would diminish the different classes in Italy creating one main class of people. The second was to have a organized economy and the third being all producers being treated fairly in order to avoid disputes. Much to Mussolini's dismay, this system did not work which lead to an economic break-down in Italy.
