Marcel Duchamp's Mona Lisa |
Dadaism was a port World War I art and literary movement which started in Europe. Artists were infuriated with the modern society and the war, so they decided to express themselves through their artwork and writing. They called their work 'Non Art' since art in their society had no meaning anyways. One big example of Dadaism is Marcel Duchamp's copy of the Lona Lisa with a mustache drawn on her face and other impurities scribbled on the painting. Even though the movement was a protest, it still turned out to be enjoyable and fun.
This art movement was a direct outcome of World War I in the sense that the artists were not happy with the world and what was going on in it, so they decided to express their feelings.
